Exceptional works of art donated by preeminent galleries and prominent artists are the focus of the Rothko Chapel: INSPIRIT 2024 Benefit Art Auction. At the same time, selected works will be displayed at McClain Gallery for viewing in person by prospective bidders during public hours.
Works by 28 artists are included in this year’s online auction on Artsy. Featured artists are John Alexander, Richard (Ricky) Armendariz, Einar and Jamex de la Torre, Carlos Donjuan, Carroll Dunham, Emilie Duval, Shepard Fairey, Sonya Fe, Mark Francis, Margaret García, Luis C. The INSPIRIT: 2024 Benefit Art Auction is organized by Robert McClain, founder of McClain Gallery in Houston. For over 40 years, Robert McClain has focused on exhibiting and acquiring museum-quality modern and contemporary art. Representing important 20th-century figures and many Texas-based artists, McClain Gallery is also committed to fostering younger generations of artists from around the world. In addition to McClain, the auction committee includes Sharon Graham, Hélène Schlumberger, and Melissa Richardson Banks of CauseConnect.
Proceeds from INSPIRIT: Rothko Chapel’s Evening of Inspiration and this benefit art auction will support the nonprofit’s work in championing human rights and the struggle for justice through programs that foster mutual understanding and inspire action while effecting social change.
